Fluoride and water

More than any other country, up to 70% of US water ways fluoridate their water. This equates to approximately 185 million people in the US get fluoride in their water, which is over half the number of people drinking artificially fluoridated water worldwide.  Why is our water being fluoridated?  The premise of water fluoridation is to prevent tooth decay.  Huh?

FDA Considers fluoride a drug: According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), fluoride is classified as a drug when used to prevent or mitigate disease.  As a matter of basic logic, adding fluoride to water for the sole purpose of preventing tooth decay (a non-waterborne disease) is a form of medical treatment. All other water treatment chemicals are added to improve the water’s quality or safety, which fluoride does not do. If fluoride is considered a drug, then wouldn't citizens need informed medical consent before being dosed with a drug in their water?  And does one dose for everyone seem like a safe practice? In fact, once fluoride is put into the water, it is impossible to control the dose each individual receives.  In fact, infants, people with compromised health issues, and the elderly are all getting the same dose!

Fluorides questionable roll in tooth decay: No disease, not even tooth decay, is caused by a fluoride deficiency.  Not a single biological process has been shown to require fluoride. On the contrary there is extensive evidence that fluoride can interfere with many important biological processes.  Despite the fact that fluoride has been added to community water supplies for over 60 years, “there have been no randomized trials of water fluoridation”.

Fluorides health concerns: According to The National Research Council, “it is apparent that fluorides have the ability to interfere with the functions of the brain.”  In a review of the literature commissioned by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), fluoride has been listed among about 100 chemicals for which there is “substantial evidence of developmental neurotoxicity.” Animal experiments show that fluoride accumulates in the brain and alters mental behavior in a manner consistent with a neurotoxic agent.  There have now been 33 studies from China, Iran, India and Mexico that have reported an association between fluoride exposure and reduced IQ. And other studies show that fluoride accumulates in the human pineal gland to very high levels, as well as affecting thyroid function.

Fluoride removal in water: As more and more people are becoming aware of water fluoridation and it's risks, many are searching for water solutions the remove fluoride.  Having a way to reduce fluoride in your home drinking water can be an affordable yet healthy solution. Many water filtration companies are starting to acknowledge that fluoride removal is one of the most important factors customers are concerned about.  In fact, fluoride removal is the highest search term in our sites search box.

Propur Filters remove fluoride: Our independent certified lab tests show Propur ProOne G2.0 filters removed >98.2% of fluoride/fluorine and it's chemical constituents, as well as pesticides, chemicals, bacteria and pathogenic contaminants.  And with Propurs superior water filtration technology, you won't need costly and toxic post filter add-ons like other retailer systems require.  Propurs all in one water filter makes your drinking water great again.  It's nice to know that we have a choice when it comes to our water quality.
